Srinagar, Sep 06 (KNO): Ahead of the assembly elections, the uncertainty is looming within the Congress party over Wagoora-Kreeri seat as the party's Jammu and Kashmir unit and the central leadership appear divided on their preferred candidate. Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra supports Irfan Hafeez Lone, a sitting District Development Council (DDC) member, Sangrama, who previously contested as an independent candidate. However, the central leadership in New Delhi reportedly favours Suhail Bukhari, the former chief spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who joined Congress recently, the sources said. With both the candidates having a significant influence and political experience, it has become a tough choice for the Congress to decide the candidate for the seat. Both candidates have agreed on a mutual basis and have expressed their willingness to support the decision of the party’s top leadership, sources added. The seat, known for its strong political influence and mass voter participation, is expected to witness a fierce contest in the upcoming elections. The Wagoora-Kreeri seat has long been a vital political stronghold and whoever is chosen to represent the party will likely face intense competition as the constituency prepares for a highly anticipated electoral battle. Despite repeated attempts, the PCC Chief could not be contacted for the comments. Pertinently, the Wagoora-Kreeri seat is expected to witness a high voltage contest as some big names would be contesting from the constituency in the third phase of elections—(KNO)
